Concrete Driveway Contractor Vancouver
Concrete driveways can have many different types of finishes depending on the type of surface you want. Driveways can also have design features incorporated during the installation through stamps or other processes. Here are some of the more common finishes below:
Sand Washed Concrete Finish - A sand washed finish typically comes in different shades of brown and natural tones of tan. It gives off a relaxed vibe and can go with many different types of landscapes. The finish is similar to an exposed aggregate (which we talk about below) but without the pebbly texture. Our contractors will work with you to put the great texture of this surface to work by matching the exact look and colour to give you driveway the ultimate finish. Stamped Concrete Driveway - One of the most popular forms of decorative concrete is called stamped concrete. Stamping your concrete is a great way to add some uniqueness to your driveway. One of the benefits of stamped concrete is that it can be a cost effective look alike of other more expensive building materials. Through stamping and colouring your concrete, you can make your driveway look like brick slate, or even cobblestone. This really allows you to be creative in the way you design the surrounding landscape as your stamped driveway has the versatility to match many types of looks. The best part is, the driveway is still made of concrete so you know it will be durable for years to come. Exposed Aggregate Concrete - Exposed aggregate driveways might be the perfect combination of aesthetic and utility if you enjoy the sea pebble look for your driveway. The name for this type of finish comes from the processing of creating the look. You removed the top layer of the concrete which "exposes" the aggregate below which ultimately gives it the pebbly look. You are able to change the look of exposed aggregates by using different sediment types in the concrete mix. The pebbles in the finish give it a built in grippy texture. While an exposed aggregate driveway is still very durable, it is a little bit more prone to damage compared to other finishes. It may require a seal more often and should be given a little bit more attention for maintenance. Now that being said, if you like the look of this finish, these shouldn't be a deterrence to getting this finish. Broom Finish Driveway - The broom finish, which is also commonly known as brushed concrete, is created by literally "brooming" the surface of the concrete during the final stages of the process with a concrete broom. Once the surface has been broomed, the surface is finalized and has some added texture to it. This type of finish is probably one that most people are familiar with and the most common type of finish used for driveways. While basic on its own, this finish can be combined with other finishes or even slightly coloured to match your taste. Mixing and matching different types of concrete finishes can create a truly unique driveway. |
